Childcare Capital Programme 2012 - Update from Pobal

Applications have closed after being open for 3 weeks.    There was a huge application and the programme is heavily oversubscribed.  The funding available to the programme is €6m.  Applications for more than €60m were made by approximately 2,300 providers!    Almost €50m of that was submitted since Friday , with €20m yesterday alone.   Those of our team who worked throughout the weekend and since have been kept exceptionally busy given the volume of activity.  We had the opportunity to talk with many of you and help you make your applications.  Thank you for your patience and kind words.   Given the big rush of applications at the end we still have some queries that were logged before closing that we are working through and we will be in touch soon.   Many thanks also to the City & County Childcare Committees and the Voluntary Childcare Organisations who have been helping applicants and have been inundated and likewise, patient.   We will be working our way through the applications and hope to be in a position to make recommendations back to the Department of Children & Youth Affairs in time to ensure you hear of an outcome by the end of May.
